A time for reflection?
Borrowing from a new book on the art of asking questions
If you are using some time in in-between season at the end of the year, you might like to check out a book by JR Briggs - The Art of Asking Better Questions. It’s not a book about end of year reflection, per se, but by way of resources, the author has put together some lists of questions - including some questions for each decade that he has borrowed from Gordon MacDonald. There are also some questions specifically for leaders.
You will have to get a copy of the book to see all the lists, but here is a sample which may whet your appetite!
1 - How am I different now than I was a year ago?
2 - Who do I want to become a year from now, and what will it take to get me there?
3 - What are my unique opportunities and limitations in this season?
4 - Positive or negative, which words from my interactions with others carry the most significance for me?
5 - What will I ned to say no to in this season - even if they are good things - to accomplish my goals?
6 - What three adjectives would I use to describe the current state of my soul?
(For leaders)
7 - Am I a leader who serves or a servant who leads? How would I know the difference?
8 - Am I a leader trying to love God or a lover of God trying to lead?
9 - Who should I invest in?
10 - How can I stay sharp in this season?
